What is the recovery timeline, and will the dimple be visible all the time at first?

#

Yes, initially the dimple is static (visible even when resting) for the first one to three weeks before transitioning into a natural dynamic dimple that only appears when smiling.

Clinical Pathology & Literature Context

During the first one to two weeks, the absorbable suture holds the dermal tether firmly in place, causing a continuous indentation. As internal biological healing occurs, controlled fibrous scar tissue forms between the skin and muscle. Once the suture dissolves between weeks 3 and 6, the skin relaxes in repose and only puckers inward when the smiling muscles contract.

Surgical & Post-Operative Recovery Protocol

Mild cheek swelling subsides within 4 to 7 days, and patients return to work the very next day.

When can I return to work, makeup, and social events?

#

Patients can return to desk jobs immediately or the following day, apply facial makeup after 48 hours, and attend social events comfortably within 3 to 5 days.

Clinical Pathology & Literature Context

Because external cheek skin remains completely unbroken, makeup, sunscreen, and skincare can be applied normally as long as vigorous pressure or deep cheek massage is avoided. Outward swelling is generally very subtle, resembling mild dental treatment.

Surgical & Post-Operative Recovery Protocol

Normal social interactions can continue without interruption from day one.
