Is dimple creation surgery permanent?
#Yes, dimpleplasty results are typically permanent once mature fibrous adhesion develops between the dermis and the buccinator muscle.
During the 4 to 6 weeks following surgery, the body generates permanent collagenous scar tissue along the suture tract. Even after the absorbable stitch dissolves completely, this permanent internal band ensures the skin indents whenever the facial muscles contract.
In rare instances (under 5%), if the suture snaps prematurely before scar maturation occurs, the dimple may fade, which can be easily reinforced with a minor revision.

Can dimple creation surgery be reversed if a patient changes their mind?
#Dimpleplasty is technically reversible in the early postoperative weeks, although reversal becomes progressively more challenging once dense fibrous adhesions mature.
If a patient desires reversal within the first two to three weeks, the surgeon can reopen the small mucosal incision under local anesthesia, release the anchoring suture, and dissect the early adhesions. After several months, reversing the dimple requires subcision or micro-fat grafting to release the dermal adherence.
Detailed preoperative counseling and conservative marking ensure patients are delighted with their new aesthetic feature.
