Are there any visible scars after buccal fat pad removal?
#There are zero visible external scars because the entire procedure is performed strictly from inside the oral cavity through mucosal incisions.
Oral mucosa possesses extraordinary regenerative capacity, characterized by rapid re-epithelialization and minimal scar tissue formation. The small incisions are closed using soft, fast-absorbing sutures (such as 4-0 or 5-0 chromic gut or Vicryl Rapide) that dissolve spontaneously within 7 to 10 days, eliminating the need for suture removal.
Once healed, the mucosal lining looks completely normal, leaving no detectable trace of surgery to external observers or dentists.
