What is the recovery timeline following structural fat grafting?

#

Recovery involves two areas: the donor site, which feels like minor muscle soreness for 5 to 7 days, and the recipient site, where swelling and mild bruising peak at day 3 and resolve over 10 to 14 days.

Clinical Pathology & Literature Context

A lightweight compression garment is worn on the donor area (abdomen or thighs) for two to three weeks to limit bruising and assist skin retraction. The recipient area (face or breasts) is left uncompressed. Most patients return to desk employment within 4 to 7 days. Definitive volume stabilization is reached at 3 months once initial swelling has fully cleared.

Surgical & Post-Operative Recovery Protocol

Gentle ambulation is encouraged immediately, while vigorous workouts resume at three to four weeks.
